NLP came about from people experimenting with various techniques with intention of making the same deep connections as in hypnosis , but without having to have the formal hypnosis inductions.....
What was discovered was that by using some of the constituants that make up hypnosis but in a very awake state, the depth could be attained without having the client to be in a very unconscious state.
Both NLP and hypnosis work inside the unconscious mind where all learning and change happens, yet NLP is able to utilize how the mind and body work to do the work whilst the client is having what seems to be a 'normal' conversation .
When you realise that the mind/brain are coded, you can translate another persons code; you can literally re-program them - with their consent!
For example, if a person wanted to stop eating chocolate, the practitioner of NLP would find the current coding for chocolate, which will be stored in pictures sounds and feelings, perhaps witht tastes and smells as well.; then change that code for something disgusting, like dog poo! The brain will then consider chocolate to be as disgusting as dog poo!
The process has not so much to do with psychology, more with hard wiring or neurology (hence the name neuro linguistic programming).
On our training courses, we even show students how to change beliefs using the same process, as beliefs are coded as well.
NLP has got a reputation for the speed it works at, yet that's only because the brain/unconscious mind can work incredibly quickly, you just have to know how to talk to it!
On the NLP Practitioner course (which includes hypnosis training) we will show you how to eliminate a phobia that may have been around a lifetime....in under 15 minutes!
Terry Elston has been featured in the Independant on Sunday, LBC radio, Health and Healing magazine and Wave magazine for the ability NLP has at working so quickly and gracefully to release such problems.
NLP World has a vast array of CD/DVDs and NLP MP3 sets and courses for beginners and advanced studying and training. Please browse further or call us for more information.
