Intent

Intent in NLP is the outcome of a behaviour. Intent is important in negotiation to enable a person to open up about the outcome they would like – aside from the behaviour they are displaying to create a desired result.

Technically to separate behaviour from intent. You can listen to a client staying “yes I want (x) relationship”. Then point out that the behaviour is not commensurate with the outcome. Chunking up, using Parts Integration or Hierarchy of ideas are examples of processes for separating Intention from behaviour.

Where there is an intent, there will be a result!

Intent on an esoteric level, would be the ability to achieve anything beyond logic or reason. In the case of Carlos Castenada’s “unbending intent”.
