NLP and Golf Coaching

I’ve been learning, applying and training NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) since 1994 in life, business and golf. Having studied a few other things along the way too, I’ve got a pretty good idea now about what NLP is, what it’s not, how it works and most importantly how useful it is. I got into studying NLP through my frustration at studying my degree in psychology. My experience of psychology was that it was very interested in why we did what we did and then testing various hypotheses to form various generalisations

NLP Techniques

The purpose of the NLP techniques that we teach are to give a practitioner a back-drop to how to play with the inner world. The techniques are simply examples or ways of playing with the internal representations that give meaning to our realities.
Of course we have a huge variety of NLP techniques in the family of NLP, yet, as I’ve mentioned in previous blogs, the techniques are the least important part of how NLP really works

NLP Training – Right And Left Brain Dominance

Please read this as research, as I can say there’s a lot more to this subject that is true and deeper than has been written here. In NLP training, we know that the eye patterns are just about written in stone as to how they work and they ALWAYS conform to certain rules. Here, we are looking at some of the characteristics of left and right brain activities and what they MAY mean.

NLP Training – Confidence

The truth is that, although the word confidence exists as some kind of entity in the world, the word confidence can be taken out of the dictionary as it doesn’t actually exist at all in reality!

NLP and Your Spirit

One of the properties I love about NLP is its abilities to denominalize. What I mean by that is to take a word, noun or institutionalised cliché and take it back to its grounding or root/home.
So we’d better take a look at the word spirit first because we can have several different meanings to that.

NLP Training: The Basics

Let’s break down the name just a bit so you’ll understand the foundations before moving on. “Neuro” stands for the mind and how it influences and controls the body. It is much more than just the physical brain; rather, it is the way that the brain affects the body on both conscious and subconscious levels.

NLP training – VAKOG

In NLP training, we call the world that we express ourselves internally and externally, the VAKOG (visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, olfactory and gustatory). The latter two there refer to smell and taste. Later in this piece we give you a test to see what your preferences are..

Understanding what we say

What is it that you and me are continually saying to ourselves about ourselves? All too often I find myself rambling on in my head… about me, to me… only to realise that I am my own worst enemy. You see, as S. Kassel highlights, doubt will kill more dreams than failure ever will or …

Why is NLP such a popular topic within the personal development Industry?

So when you take an NLP training, the training should focus on how you go about experimenting with the mind, not showing you xyz techniques. For instance, we all have what’s called an internal world, mostly made of sounds, feelings and pictures (plus self talk). We call that the VAKOG for short (Visual, audio, kinesthetic and to a lesser extent, olfactory and gustatory). This inner world informs you and I what is good bad, valuable, or avoidable. It’s in the form of coding and very unconscious.
